Day 4 -

Day 4 / Friday May 31, 2013

I had a hard time falling asleep again last night. I finally fell asleep sometime after 2:30am,
I made myself get up at 11am other wise I feel like I am sleeping the day away.

Andy and I started the morning with coffee and yoga.  Then I did some cleaning.
The hardwood floors seems to get dirty quickly with the door/windows open, and messy
teenagers.

We're going to go to a nearby town called Castelldefels. We can take the Motorway/Toll road (6.48 each way) and it takes about 18 minutes to get there.  But today we took the road along the coastline.  It's beautiful, but it's very curvy. It took us a little over 30 minutes to get to there.

And of course we have to stop for a gelato and cappuccino.

Back at home it's almost 8pm and I am ready for bed; but we haven't even had dinner yet.
Chef Andy barbecues us a delicious pork tenderloin.

Tory channel surfs the TV for English shows.  She is excited to find The Disney Channel.

Abby take a beautiful panoramic picture of the sunset.

Day 2 & 3

Wed. May 29, 2013. Our 2nd full day here.

It's sunny but windy, it's close to 70 degrees (21 Celsius).  We slept in until 11:00am.  Today has been a nice relaxing day.  Naps, lounging around, & I did my nails.  Then Andy and I workout (P90X kenpo, the girls were laughing at us).  Abby and Julia went for a walk. It feels weird, almost guilty to do nothing for a whole day.  The time change is so strange.  It's 4pm but it feel like it's morning. (because it's 8am in Colorado)

Andy made a tasty sandwich (onion/peppers in balsamic, with salami & turkey) and is enjoying some wine on the balcony.
Andy is making us dinner.  For the starter we are served bread w/olive oil & balsamic
 along with melon with ham.
The girls relaxing, while Andy cooks for us.

And for dinner we had sauteed chicken with red peppers and onion.

We rent a movie and call it a day.
During our movie Abby spills hot tea on her ankles.  Ouch!

Day 3 / May 30, 2013
Today the weather is much nicer, it's still around 70 degrees, but not as windy.

Julia enjoys coffee out on the balcony while Andy and I workout.  Abby & Tory sleep in.
We get ready and go into town.
Driving here is going to take some time to get used to, we have a stick shift diesel car.
The roads are very harrow and I am not familiar with  the street signs yet.
I have been doing most of the driving and Andy is the navigator.

We walked the beach.
We enjoy a beverage at the seaside.

Back to the market to load up on more food.  The fridge is pretty small, so we'll have to go to the store every couple of days. (At the market you have to pay to use the grocery cart & pay for plastic bags.  So we bought some recycle bags.  And we have to carry all of our food out to the car, the carts can't come outside)

At home we have some yummy appetizers & wine.
Tonight Andy will cook again.
We have found that it's pretty expensive to eat out, unless it's at the casual pizza/sandwich shop.

We rent another movie and hope to fall asleep before 2am.   xo

The beginning ...... Travel Day & Day 1

Its been a long day of travel. Den to DC. DC to Frankfurt.  Frankfurt to Barcelona.  We got our luggage, we found the rental car. Found the house. Its awesome.

 Roof top parking

 Elevator

The balcony with a beautiful view

 Our own pool

 Basement bedroom

 other basement bedroom.

We leave to go to the market and I make a wrong turn go 20 minutes out of the way pay 13 euros in toll fees. Finally get to the market, picking out strange food while hungry is weird .  With a cart full of food and items for the house we go to check out. None of our credit cards or debit cards work. Ugh!  Andy walks 20 blocks looking for an ATM. Can't find one so we drive to one, it won't take his card. Wtf,  I don't usually say that but that is how I felt.
We get back Andy's phone isn't connecting. He looks online trying to figure out what's going on.  So the girls share a package of beef jerky and we go to bed. Now I lay in bed listening to my stomach growl and the sounds of a bunch of dogs barking outside. I thank God that we're here safe and hoping my girls aren't too hungry.
.
I didn't sleep well. Went to bed at 10pm woke up around 2am for a few hours.

First day (Tue. May 28,2013) here in Sitges
I finally got some good sleep.  We wake up at 11am.  Andy contacts the credit card companies and we think it should work now.  We get ready and head into town.  The ATM works!

Then find a restaurant, on the waters edge.  I start with melon and ham, the girls get caprese salad and Mussels.  Our meals comes, Abby has rice stew with lobster, Tory gets grilled meats, Andy has squid, and I get a "tropical salad".  The girls walk on the beach, then we head to the market. Yeah the credit card works.

The weather is nice, but not warm.  We head to another town to go to a phone store, we get 3 prepaid phones, enjoy a gelato.

Then head to the airport to pick up Julia (our exchange student from Finland that stayed with us a few years ago).  It's so nice to see Julia, she is speechless when she sees us. We went out for dinner and now its just about time for bed. Tomorrow the weather is going to be around 67 and maybe afternoon showers. I am hoping it warms up soon. Nothing on much on three agenda for tomorrow, excerpts maybe workout. I'm going to hit the post button. I hope its not stupid or lame. :) Hope everyone had a good Memorial Day. Xo Jenny
