Day 53 / 54 / 55 - The end

Day  53 / July 19, 2013

Today the girls and I went to the mall to get our nails done.

Then we just hung out in the apartment for the evening trying to eat the food the rest of the food that we had at the house.



Day 54 / July 20, 2013 - Our last day.

Today is our last day.  It's so surreal.  I can't believe our time here is over.
We've had blast, it's been such a blessing to spend this time together as a family.

We packed up our things today, went to the pool for that last bit of Mediterranean sun.

We walked to Nice Spice for our last dinner in Barcelona, enjoyed a gelato on the way home.

Day 55 / July 21 , 2013 - Going home.

We left the apartment 7:45am for our 10:45am flight.  Got to the airport at 8:20 and went to go check in. We're flying United, and my email says: Flight operated by LUFTHANSA., so we got in the Lufthansa line, after waiting for 40 minutes  once we got to the front they told us we were in the wrong line.  So then we went to the correct check in. Waiting in that line, then the next we waited at the Passport Control line, got thru that and had 20 minutes to spare. Grab a bite to eat and we were off to Newark.

After an 8hr 45 min flight we arrived at Newark.  We went thru customs, got our luggage and had to recheck our bags.  (I wasn't paying attention, took off our tags, thinking we'd get new tags) so we had to wait to get new luggage tags reprinted. After that we had to go thru security.  Finally done with all that, time to eat again.  Then time to board again.  3 hrs 45 minutes and we land in Denver.  Get our luggage, and head to the car.  Drove thru for some Taco Bell and got home at 9pm.

It's great to be home.  We ran out to check on the garden before the sunset.  I went thru the mail (a lot of junk mail in 8 weeks), Tory and I watched a season finale we missed from May.  And now it's 11:10pm and I am ready for bed.  It's 7:10am in Barcelona, I woke up 24 hrs ago.

I am so grateful for this blessed life that I have, and that I have such wonderful family and friends to share it with.  Thanks to everyone who emailed and text me to make sure I knew I was missed.  To those to kept our work and home running without us.

Tomorrow it's back to the real world, of appointments, activities, work, social events, and much more.

Day 51 / 52

Day 51 / July 17, 2013

Today the girls and I went shopping.  While we were walking around with Nicolo the other day, we saw an area of shops in the Gothic area that we wanted to go back to. 

We shopped, bought a few gifts and had lunch together.

Then Andy and I went to a Spanish guitar concert at Palau de la Musica Catalana.

Day 52 / July 18, 2013



Today I sat on the balcony and balanced my checkbook, and scheduled some appointments  I figured I should start to get my brain working again. ;)

Then we went to the beach.

After a fun afternoon at the beach we went home to get ready for dinner.

We went to Matsuri, a sushi place.

We stopped to buy Andy a Barcelona football (soccer) jersey, and heading home.

Watched Despicable Me when we got home and went to bed.

Day 49 / 50

Day 49 / July 15, 2013


We're on the final days count down.  I am making lists and calendars for when we return home. We'll be home in 6 days.  We're all ready, but not at the same time.

Today Andy and I went to do more sightseeing.  We went to Montjuic.

Today it was 88 degrees when we started our walk and it felt like it was just as humid as it was hot.
Sticky, sweaty, gross......Am I too young for menopause hot flashes!?!?!

5 + miles today.

We went to La Boqueria, (the large market on La Rambla) to pick up more fruit and vegetables.

The girls walked to the mall to get lunch and hang out for a while.

We got ready and we out to dinner. In the Gracia area that Nicolo took us to.

We were looking for a sushi restaurant, but ended up at a good little Mexican place.

Add a few more miles for our evening walk and we hit another 7+ mile day.  No wonder my feet hurt all the time.

Day 50 / July 16, 2013

Today I started the morning with coffee on the balcony with Andy.  It is going to be 84 degrees today, and it's so freaking hot and sticky already.   I am ready for some dry Colorado weather, even if it is hot.

We went to the pool and had a pretty boring day.

The girls went to the mall for dinner while Andy and I had reservations at Con Gracia.

It's a very small nice restaurant, there were only 12 two person tables.
We choose the surprise menu.  It was 7 courses.

These little flowers are from Madagascar. When you eat them, they shock your tongue and mouth, like you put a 9volt battery on your tongue.  Very strange.

Day 47 / 48

Day 47 / July 13, 2013

Today Nicolo was our tour guide around Barcelona.

 Nicolo took us to one of his favorite places for lunch.

(we wouldn't have gone there on our own)   It was so busy, shoulder to shoulder people. Abby almost punched someone for pushing her in her back.  Nicolo went to the counter ordered us a variety of sandwiches, cava and 2 small plates of meat.

The food was very good!!!
Andy said it's one of his favorite places we've ate.

 I made it back to the cute little cupcake place.

We came back home, went to the pool.  Hit a volleyball around in the grass courtyard until we were told that it wasn't allowed. oops.

Got ready and headed back out on the town.

We put on name on the list at our restaurant and then went walking around the city for another hour.

After dinner we walked the city some more.

With all the walking today & tonight we think we walked close to 8 miles.

When we got home we started at movie at 1:30am, and then Nicolo slept outside on the lounge on the balcony.


Day 48 / July 14, 2013

Today we woke up at noon (except Andy was up earlier). Then we went to the beach.

While at the beach the women in front of us heard Nicolo talk Spanish on the phone to a friend. She was surprised by how well he spoke Spanish.  She started a conversation with Abby.
She was very friendly, she gave us suggestions on another beach that we should visit.
She took some photos for us, and we asked for her to be in a photo with us.

We came home for Nicolo to shower and pack before he had to leave.

We said our goodbyes and the girls walked him to the subway station.

We ate pizza, and caprese at home.   Read, played Yahtzee on Abby's ipad, watched a movie.
A great family night.
