Day 33 / 34

Day 33 / June 29, 2013

Today was another beach day.  The beach is so packed with people.  We thought how odd it was that if we would see a beach like this in Hawaii (or somewhere else) we'd keep looking for another beach or go home.  But it's normal here.  No personal space, people everywhere.  I felt like the minority having my bikini top on.  I totally stuck out at a foreigner.

Tory is starting to get stuffy nose, she wanted something spicy for dinner so the girls and Andy decided we should have some spicy Pad Thai.  We got ready and took off for the metro station.

After a short subway ride and a 8 minute walk we arrived at our restaurant.
It had a nice atmosphere, the staff was nice, and spoke good English.

I had green curry (The waitress said it was spicy, she said it's Spain spicy not Thai spicy)  Pretty funny.
It has some heat for me, my lips were on fire.

Andy ordered spicy calamari pad Thai. (which wasn't really spicy)

The girls shared spicy chicken pad Thai and spare ribs.  Both were excellent.

The desserts were awesome
 Caramelized pineapple

.
Chocolate fondant (is what they called it)

Banana spring rolls

Our walk back to the metro station.

Day 34 / June 30, 2013

There was a huge race going on this morning.

The girls and I planned to go to an outdoor mall that was 2 miles away.  We were going to walk to the tram station and take the tram.  I had it all figured out.  We got ready and started walking.  It was pretty cloudy out, I was nervous that it would rain on  us, so we decided to just go to the inside mall that was down the street from our apartment.  When we got there the store were all closed (but the restaurants were open).  They are closed every Sundays!!!  Ugh.  Good thing we didn't go all the way to the other mall.

We got some lunch and walked around. We found a bowling alley, thought it would be fun.  We went home to get socks and see if Andy wanted to join us.
He was watching a movie.  I decided I was a little tired.  So I said I'd take a nap and then we'd go back.
Andy and the girls watched movies, while I napped and then read.  (we'll have to bowl another day)

I woke up to the building next door having a huge party with very loud music.

We were discussing what to do for dinner and realized the market was closed so we were going to go out again.  The girls picked sushi.  They wanted sushi we saw in the mall, but Andy and I wanted to try to find something elsewhere.

We took the metro for about 10 minutes.
We were in a really unique older neighborhood with lots of pedestrian only streets. There was a like band playing on a stage.

I saw a cute cupcake and cookie shop
(it was closed for the day, but I will be going back)

We walked up and down and around these streets trying to find the restaurant after 20 minutes we found it.

A lot of the reviews talked about how unique the decor was.

The girls and I asked Andy to order for us.
He ordered a steak and the chefs plate - 40 pieces of sushi. It was all delicious.

Again the waitress poured the girls wine.

For dessert Tory had chocolate ice cream.  Abby and I had a hazelnut chocolate something.  It was good.

When we got home the girls and I watched the movie The Impossible (Faith Hill recommended it on Instagram)  It was good, but a tearjerker.
