Day 37 / 38

Day 37 / July 3, 2013

Today we made the girls go sightseeing with us.  We took the subway for 25 minutes and walked for another 15 minutes to Guell Park.  Gaudi's house.

It was really hot on our walk there, and while we were there!

I'm glad we went, it was really interesting to see.  I think the girls like it too. I saw them taking pictures on their own.

What a walk, add 3 miles.

We got back on the subway and took it to a stop near that little cafe Marti's that Andy and I had stopped last week.  It's SOOOO good.
Abby and I shared a sandwich and  tomato focaccia bread, oh and part of Andy's donut too.  Tory had a pizza roll & a nutella filled donut. Then Abby asked the lady (who I think is the owner) what the best pastry was, she pointed one out to her.  It was a-m-a-z-ing!!   I am pretty sure we'll be going back there again.

Call me crazy, but I actually let the girls take the subway home alone.  We were in a good neighborhood, and when they would get off the subway in our neighborhood, its a good area.  It was in the middle of the day, and they both had a phone.  YIKES.  I was nervous.  I made them text me when they got on the subway, off the subway and when they got home.  They made it no problem.

The girls heading to the subway - alone.

Andy and I walked the rest of the way home.  It felt much cooler than it did earlier in the day.
We walked for over an hour, plus a stop in the mall to get some cheese at the market.

3+  more miles

Another 6+ mile day, once again I got blisters.  I just had to wear cute shoes over comfortable.  Ugh.

When we got home the girls were at the pool.  Andy and I went to the store to get food for dinner.
We used Tory's ingenious idea of taking our roller carry on suitcase so that we could roll our groceries home instead of carry them  It was much better, especially since we had wine, beer, milk and water.

For dinner Abby made hamburger tacos.  Very good.

Day 38 / July 4th

It's the 4th of July for everyone at home, but here it's just July 4, 2013.

Today we heard some really sad news.  Our neighbor's son and another boy were missing in New Mexico, the news reported that 2 bodies were found in the area.  A lot of tears and prayer for them today.
(Our neighbors, Kevin and Nadeen Hooper, owner of Lamp Lighter Drycleaners)

Andy and I had a couples massage.  We took the subway there.  It was a nice little hole in the wall spa.
(the girls stayed home and hung out together)
Good thing we were together, it was a little strange.  They gave us little disposable underwear to wear.  And I got my stomach massaged, for the first time in my life.

 The spa hallway.
They gave us champagne and chocolate.

After that we walked around the area looking for a snack.  I couldn't make up my mind on what I wanted so we ended up at Marti's again.  (I need to stop coming here, or I am going to look like a donut). But it's so good.

Andy had a house sandwich.

I ordered a chocolate donut to eat there.

And a caramel muffin and a pastry to go.  ( I might have had a few bites before we left)

We stopped at a market for some chicken and bbq sauce.  We thought  BBQ chicken sounds good for the 4th of July.  On the way home we picked up a watermelon at mom and pop shop.
(The chicken and bbq sauce cost 4.25 euros, the watermelon by it's self was 5 euros, I hope its a good melon)

Hope everyone had a fun and safe 4th of July.  If we were home, we'd probably be at Sun Construction setting up to watch the Boulder Country fireworks like we have in the past.

Miss everyone at home!!  xo
